Advantages of Foam Roofing Over Shingle Or Tile Roofing In Camp Verde

It is no secret that many of the homes in Camp Verde Arizona have flat roofs. A flat roof usually is treated differently than one that has an incline, because environmental conditions can cause a different effect on the roofing material. Roofing material comes in many different options. Each option has weaknesses and strengths.

Flat roofs need special attention, especially those in dry and hot climates – like Camp Verde Arizona. It is not uncommon to see many different types of roofing material. Each option should be considered carefully, along with cost, benefits, environment, and upkeep.

Tile roofing is the oldest form of roofing material. Generally, tile roofing is made from clay tiles. This method dates back to Roman times. Interestingly tiles are often made locally, which is a major selling point for local economies. Tiles are arranged carefully on the roof and then sprayed with a waterproof coating. The tile method is popular due to the variance in color and design, however, it is also one of the most expensive methods. While the maintenance is somewhat low because tile roofing has a very long lifespan, it is not usually the best choice because of its high cost and it does not suit flat roofs.

When considering cost, many families in Camp Verde chose shingle roofing. Shingle roofing is perhaps the most common type of roofing. It is low cost and easy to apply. Shingles are made from an asphalt mixture that includes fiberglass. The low cost of shingles comes at a high rate of maintenance. Shingle roofing is likely the most problematic and least energy efficient method of roofing. It is also not a wise choice for any dwelling with a flat roof surface.

Where the others fail, foam roofing succeeds. Foam spray-on roofing is one of the newer methods of roofing a building. The sprayed-on roofing material is a polyurethane foam mixture. The fact that foam roofing material is sprayed on makes it extremely easy to work with and very effective at covering odd shapes and slopes. The covering is seamless, which prevents leaks of any type. Foam is also the most energy efficient method. The cost of foam material lands somewhere between that of shingles and tiles. The higher cost is offset by the life span and the energy efficiency of the foam.

Because foam roofing is so efficient it should always be carefully considered in areas of extreme temperatures. In addition to lowering costs through efficiency by around thirty percent, foam is extremely low maintenance and has an exceptionally long shelf life.
